IBD cycle #4: Venture Capital After Investment Banking

Dear friends,

We are pleased to continue our investment banking cycle by inviting you to the new meeting on the issue of exit opportunities and career alternatives to IBD – “Venture Capital After Investment Banking”.

What is the difference between working in an investment bank and a venture fund? How difficult is it to make a transition from one industry to another? Is there any conceptual difference in the way of thinking of investment bankers and venture capitalists? What is the specificity of work in a Russian venture fund and what are the prospects for those who decided to choose a career in venture capital?

Reflections on these and many other issues will be shared by Alexander Konoplyasty, who knows both the IB and the venture industry from the inside. Starting his career in IBD, he worked his way from an investment analyst at the London office of Morgan Stanley to a director in the Moscow office of UBS, and after completing a career in the bank he worked on transactions as an independent financial adviser. In 2012, Alexander founded and became the managing partner of Buran VC venture fund , investing in IT start-ups. During its operation, the fund invested in such companies as Shazam, ivi.ru and Ponominalu.ru.
