Dear Friends,
We are pleased to announce that on April 17 at 19:00, as part of the NES Investment Research Challenge 2025 event series, there will be a lecture by Sergey Kovbasyuk, Professor at the New Economic School, on the topic of digital currencies and digital financial assets.
We invite you to explore how the landscape of financial markets is evolving – not only from the perspective of individual market players, but from a broader systemic view. Sergey will discuss how money is created in the modern economy and why the traditional money multiplier theory falls short, examine both the potential benefits and risks that central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) pose to the banking system, and explore how the development of Digital Financial Assets could support economic growth in Russia.
Sergey earned his PhD from the Toulouse School of Economics. His research has been published in academic journals such as Review of Economic Studies and Review of Finance. He is also a recipient of the European Finance Association award.
Following the presentation, you will have the opportunity to ask Sergey your questions during the Q&A session.
The meeting will be held online via Zoom.
We remind you that registration for the meeting is required!
